Deepinder Goyal's Temple wearable may open pre-orders next week at an expected Rs 75,000 to Rs 1 lakh

Our read

Temple's first 100 units will likely sell through to a niche premium audience, but broader demand will depend on independent validation of the entropy score.

For operators

Retail operators should treat Temple as a niche, premium-priced wearable: with only the first 100 units ready to ship and an expected price of Rs 75,000 to Rs 1 lakh, pre-orders next week will test demand, not support broad shelf space.

Watch

Pre-orders open next week with a confirmed price inside Rs 75,000 to Rs 1 lakh

The report,

Temple, a head-worn health wearable, is expected to offer about seven days of battery life. Its premium package is said to be subscription free, and the company says it tracks blood flow to produce a proprietary Entropy score.

The counter-case

The case against this reading — not reported by the source.

Almost every load-bearing claim in this signal is hedged: pre-orders 'may' open, the price is 'expected', and the subscription-free package is 'said to be'. The Rs 75,000 to Rs 1 lakh range is itself a spread of about a third, so the headline number is not a real price point. The 0.91 versus 0.55 correlation is the most striking claim, but it appears to be a vendor-supplied validation of a proprietary 1 to 250 'entropy score'. Beating resting heart rate on correlation is a low bar, because heart rate is a weak proxy for metabolic output. A high correlation with a metabolic cart also does not show that the score is accurate, useful or actionable for a buyer. 'First 100 units ready to ship' points to a boutique, founder-led launch rather than a retail-scale product. Pre-orders also measure curiosity, not sustained demand. A head-worn form factor adds adoption risk around comfort, social acceptability and daily wear compared with wrist and ring devices. At this price, the buyer pool in India is very small. Seven-day battery life is a claimed figure, not a tested one. This could turn out to be mostly founder-celebrity buzz with little retail significance.
