Kitchen Secret is likely to use its ₹1.14 crore seed to push quick-commerce reach beyond Blinkit.

For operators

Kitchen Secret, a sauces brand already on more than 500 Blinkit dark stores with over one lakh jars sold, is spending its seed money on inventory and quick-commerce distribution, so quick-commerce category teams have another emerging condiment brand to range and watch.

Watch

Blinkit dark-store count above the 500 reported, by the next milestone update, would mean seed money is widening reach and sauce rivals face a tougher Blinkit shelf.

The counter-case

The case against this reading — not reported by the source.

This is a very small round. Rs 1.14 crore will not go far in quick commerce, where brands pay for visibility, discounts, dark-store listing fees and working capital for inventory. Splitting it across marketing, inventory, quick-commerce distribution and B2B scale-up leaves little for any one of them. The traction figures are also modest. More than one lakh jars sold since the 2023 relaunch points to cumulative revenue of perhaps a few crore at most, and the signal gives no sales-rate or revenue figure. Presence on more than 500 Blinkit dark stores shows the brand got listed, not that it sells through or that shoppers reorder. The brand is also heavily tied to one platform. If Blinkit changes its commission, ad costs or shelf allocation, the economics could shift quickly. Sauces and condiments are crowded with large incumbents and well-funded D2C challengers that can outspend a seed-stage brand. The 2016 founding and 2023 relaunch also suggest the first attempt did not scale. Overall this reads as a small seed cheque, not a signal about the wider retail-brand space.
