Reliance Consumer Products targets five to six million outlets in two years, seven to eight ₹1,000 crore brands by mid-2027
Our read
Reliance Consumer Products plans to grow from close to three million outlets to five to six million within two years through direct distribution, so retailers and kirana operators should expect more RCPL push on shelf space, schemes and replenishment.
Watch
RCPL outlet reach past the close to three million reported, by the next annual results, would mean direct distribution is scaling and wholesalers are losing volume.

The counter-case
The case against this reading — not reported by the source.
The headline is a management ambition, not a result. Going from close to three million outlets to five to six million in two years means roughly doubling direct-distribution reach, which is costly and slow to build. Outlet count also says little about sales per outlet. Newly added small stores may order rarely, stock few SKUs, or churn out, so reach could rise without revenue following. Going from four to seven or eight brands above ₹1,000 crore by mid-2027 needs three or four more brands to cross that line in a short window. That probably depends on aggressive pricing, promotions and distributor margins, which could hurt profitability. Incumbent FMCG players with entrenched distribution can also respond with price cuts or trade schemes. The statement comes from a company director, so it is a target and carries no independent verification. Only about 10% of RCPL business comes from Reliance Retail stores, which shows that growth depends on third-party channels the company does not control.
