Tendulkar co-founded TenxYou plans 10 company-owned stores in six months, 40-50 within two years
Our read
TenxYou probably opens its first stores roughly on schedule, but profitability and the 40-50 store target will likely lag the stated timeline.
For operators
TenxYou's plan for 10 company-owned stores in six months and 40-50 within two years points to rising competition for sportswear shelf space, and the brand may shift volume away from the distributors and retailers that now serve its 115 towns.

The counter-case
The case against this reading — not reported by the source.
The headline numbers are all management claims and targets, with no independent verification. The 'INR 50 crore plus annual run rate' is a run rate, not audited revenue. A run rate can be extrapolated from a single strong month or a festive or cricket-season peak, and the 'one lakh customers' figure has no definition (unique buyers, orders or app registrations). The expansion plan is also aggressive for a first-year brand: 10 company-owned stores in six months, 40-50 in two years, then 300-plus 'eventually', which has no date and so cannot be tested. Company-owned stores are capital-heavy. They bring rent, deposits, inventory, staff and fit-out costs, and they usually delay profitability. That sits awkwardly with the claim of EBITDA positive in six to eight months while opening stores at this pace. Sportswear is also crowded with Nike, Adidas, Puma, Decathlon, HRX, Wrogn-style celebrity labels and cheaper D2C names, so a celebrity co-founder may drive early awareness without sustaining repeat purchases. Cricket is about 40% of sales, so the brand is exposed to the cricket calendar and to equipment-led, lower-frequency purchases. Retail walk-in conversion for a young brand is unproven. Reach into 115 towns through distributors and retailers does not show sell-through, because stock pushed into the channel is not consumer demand.
