§ Tool reference

Every RetailIntel tool is read-only. Here is what each takes and returns.

10 tools at https://retailintel.in/mcp. All 10 read published reports and return text; 4 also draw a card in assistants that show them. None writes, sends, buys or changes anything, so none is a write or sensitive tool.

Set up in Claude: Ask Claude what moved in Indian retail. Other assistants: /ai.

Permissions and side effects

  • Every tool carries readOnlyHint: true, destructiveHint: false, idempotentHint: true and openWorldHint: false.
  • The server reads RetailIntel's own record of published reports. It does not fetch other sites on a call, read your files, chat history or memory, or ask for anything beyond the tool's inputs.
  • The only thing written is a usage record of the call (below). Nothing is created, changed or deleted in any account.
  • No tool asks you to pay, subscribe or accept a fee, and none returns a price. A tool that needs a Pro window or more brands names the plan and links the plans page; it does not change anything.

Access and limits

  • No sign-in. https://retailintel.in/mcp works for anyone: 50 lookups a day and 30 a minute for each user. A question usually takes 6 to 13 lookups. Everyone using one assistant without an account also shares a daily pool of 2,000 lookups.
  • Sign in for more. https://retailintel.in/mcp/account asks you to sign in with OAuth 2.1 and PKCE (dynamic client registration or client ID metadata; refresh tokens are issued). A free account gets 100 lookups a day, Pro 5,000.
  • Keys. A RetailIntel API key (Authorization: Bearer ck_live_… or X-API-Key) gives its account's limits.

Errors and status

  • Over a limit: the tool answers with an error result that says which limit (minute or day), when it resets and how to get more. Nothing is retried for you and no partial answer is returned.
  • Not found or not allowed: an error result that names the input that did not match (an unknown brand, a window your plan does not include) and what to try.
  • Bad input: a JSON-RPC invalid-params error that names the field.
  • A dead key or an expired sign-in: HTTP 401 with a JSON-RPC error; an expired sign-in also carries WWW-Authenticate so the client can refresh.
  • Replies are application/json; there is no stream to hold open.

What we record

For each call: the tool, the assistant's name, whether it worked, and one-way hashes of the IP address and of the anonymous user id the assistant sends, so the daily limit can be applied. The inputs are not stored, and we never receive your conversation. Usage records are deleted after 90 days; daily-limit counters expire after 24 hours. Who we share data with is listed in privacy; for security or support, contact us.
