Trent misses Q1 estimates as rapid Zudio expansion offsets soft same-store fashion demand
Trent reported Q1FY27 revenue of ₹5,754.7 crore, up 17.8% year on year, and net profit of ₹518.1 crore, both below consensus. It added 22 Zudio stores and entered nine cities, with more than 80% of new Zudio locations in tier II/III and peripheral markets.
Trent missed Q1 consensus despite double-digit revenue and profit growth, as low single-digit same-store fashion growth was offset by aggressive store additions. Zudio expansion focused on tier II/III markets, while Star and emerging beauty, footwear and innerwear categories expanded.
Why this matters
The Q1FY27 miss contrasts with recent Trent updates citing 22%-26% profit growth and continued Zudio additions, including a UAE store, alongside Westside and Zudio expansion.
Retail-company signals are accelerating, up 150,760% QoQ.
